'Toen ik Ramabhai was' (When I was Ramabhai) - An unforgettable journey through Gujarat (124 pages, Dutch, hardcover)

How do rich and poor live side by side in Gujarat, India in 1986? How are they married off? How do people endure their fate? How do they experience their faith in gods? How do they survive? These are serious questions. I wrote about them in my book 'When I was Ramabhai', in a light-hearted tone. There are still a few copies available. It can be purchased in the Haagse Kunstkring for € 18 or contact me. In the meantime, my watercolors and woodcuts about this journey can be seen in the exhibition 'the paper journey' in the Haagse Kunstkring until March 30.

My paintings

With every new painting, I embark on an adventure of unfamiliar routes using my own style, perception, and sense of color. Making a painting is a personal journey as well. Layer-by-layer, a piece of art with its own soul arises.

I have been a professional artist all my life. On this website you see a selection of the paintings I made during my portable career.

The impressions and experiences of travelling were important for my development as an artist. Each new location had its own unique lighting and angle of incidence. I explored new inspiring themes everywhere.

By looking at the world from different angles, I have collected a wealth of images and imaginations. I am delighted to share these with everyone through my paintings. More is yet to come.
