First Prize

Rob van Doeselaar won the first prize for the best portrait of King Willem Alexander in the 'Long Live the King' competition in 2013. It was organized by Kika Notten and Muriel Mager at the Sophie Marée gallery at the Scheveningen harbour. The jury consisted of Wim van Sinderen, Yvette van Caldenborgh and Ivo Bouwman. The King's Commissioner Jan Franssen presented the prize.

King Willem-Alexander is portrayed as a person and as a king. The portrait consists of 40 iPad sketches. It is printed on Hahnemüle Satin paper as fine art print (giclée print) in high quality, measuring 130 x 110 cm. A slight misalignment of the panels creates a dynamic and surprising effect.
