In 1987 I traveled for three months in Gujarat, India. It was a deep experience of a completely different world. The Gujaratis impressed me with their hospitality as they invited me to stay with them in their houses both in the capital Ahmedabad and in the countryside.
I painted numerous watercolours of my impressions using a very simple box of paint with only a very limited amount of colours. Afterwards I was amazed how the local colours manifested themselves in the scenes of all kind of activities, markets, villages, streets and roads.
